Top Ten Tuesday: 2015 Goals and Resolutions

Top Ten Tuesday is a meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish where a new topic is given each week by the host blog and participants write up a corresponding list of ten things. Simple, fun, and great for those obsessed with lists. This week's topic is: Top Ten Goals/Resolutions For 2014 -- bookish, blogging or otherwise!

(1) After having spent more time than I would have liked stressing over meeting my Goodreads Challenge for 2014 I've decided that I'm going to start off 2015 with my goal set at reading one hundred books and just work my way up from there, each time I meet a goal I can raise it a little and that way it won't be so overwhelming for me.

(2) I still have tons of unread classics sitting on my shelves so I think I'm going to carry over the challenge of reading at least ten of them in 2015. Maybe I'll even tackle some of the bigger ones this year!

(3) I also think I'm going to try and check all the books off of the PopSugar Ultimate Reading Challenge for 2015.

(4) I want to try to at least post one review a month, preferably two, but I'll set the goal at one and just hope for the best.
(5) Bouncing off of that I want to try and post at least one discussion post [AKA Tiara Talk] a month instead of just doing Top Ten Tuesday every Tuesday.

(6) I swear I make this goal/resolution every semester..so here we go again, time to give it that old college try...I want to get more interactive with the blogging community again. For me this means trying to get into the habit of commenting more on other blog posts, taking the time to read more of them, and responding faster to comments on my own posts.

(7) I want to work on adding some more interesting features to try you in and so that I have fun writing them again. Win/win.

(8) I'd like to read enough so that my TBR is half of what it currently is which means taking in fewer books while I'm doing that. Maybe one of the "Read5BeforeYou5" challenges, excluding comics and textbooks.
(9) I want to do WAY more buddy reads with my friends. For sure.

(10) I want to try and get down a system where I've always got the posts scheduled for the upcoming month. The being ahead has helped me out SO MUCH.

What are you hoping to accomplish in 2015?

  1. I REALLY love your first goal, Ash, and I totally think I'm going to steal it. I had huge aspirations for this year but not only did I have a lot of time sucks, I didn't regularly update Goodreads, either. So I think starting at 100 and going up from there is the perfect idea. =)

I also really need to read more classics as well. I think I want at least 5! I want to enjoy some different literature, plus, they should help me out with my SATs hahaha.

I can't wait to see what new features you bring!! I think discussions are always a ton of fun and can be really thought-provoking. Good discussions are also a great way to get more involved in the community, especially if those discussions extend to Twitter and such.

Also I REALLY need to schedule too! I'm sure it was really helpful for me and it's something I'm looking to start doing as well.

Lovely resolutions, Ash! I bet you'll be able to accomplish ALL of them. <3

    1. Time sucks are the absolute worst so I can totally sympathize with you there. I'm super happy for you to steal the goal. I think it'll make life better for the both of us.

Gah. You poor thing. SATs are the absolute worst. [Well, actually GREs are but those are for grad school, don't worry about them yet!] I recommend those study books and one of those classes, if you do both well then you'll go to take the actual exam and it won't seem quite as intimidating. Classics will probably help too but I'm sure your verbal score will already kick butt, smarty. ;P

I've already got a couple planned but I'm not sure what's going up for sure, so I can't wait to see what new features I bring either! xD I look forward to seeing you pop up on future discussion posts. You always make great points.

I think we'll both be fantastic bloggers, students, and people in general in 2015. But just for the heck of it, good luck to you too! May 2015 be a great year for you! <3

  2. I did your first one this year. Except I don't change it. I set it low, so I do put a lot of pressure on myself, that way, however far I go, it's a win. I set mine at 75 this year, but I think I'm going to set it at 100, I always exceed it, but that way no pressure.

I used be ahead in scheduling. It helps so much and kind of makes blogging less stressful and I think that's my major goal for next year. Stressless blogging.

    1. I have always set my Goodreads Challenge really high and never really worried about it before. I've always been able to pull it off. But since starting graduate school it's getting harder and harder to squeeze in books, and classes themselves are enough of a stressful challenge. I like the idea though of no matter how far you go it always being a win. I might not raise my goal after all.

Stressless blogging sounds amazing, let's do it! ^.^

  4. Reading more classics is on my list too! I also want to get more interactive with the blog community! I started my blog in the end of August and I can't say I've been very interactive... I'm working on it though!
Best of luck on your goals! Happy New Year :)

    1. Hopefully we can both find some classics that we adore in the coming year! And also manage to be more interactive with the community as a whole. Luckily we've chosen a very friendly one. And I'm so glad you decided to join it!

Good luck to you as well and happy new year! [:
