Should I Stay Or Should I Go? [1]

"Should I Stay Or Should I Go?" is a new feature I'm wanting to introduce on Typing Tiara where I reach out to you, my awesome readers, to talk about series that I'm just not sure if I want to continue on with or series in which I have the first book on my TBR and I'm not longer sure if I even want to start any more.

Where do you guys come in?

I want you to tell me if I should stay with the series or if I should just move on already.

Think you can do that?

Awesome sauce!

First up is the Lunar Chronicles by Marissa Meyer.

Cinder by Marissa MeyerScarlet by Marissa MeyerCress (The Lunar Chronicles, #3)

I read Cinder back in September and I was absolutely hooked. I loved the characters, the setting, the plot, EVERYTHING. I wasn't even finished with the book before I was putting holds on the next two in the series. I got lucky and my hold on the second book came in to my local library in no time at all. And I struggled. I started it immediately and almost just as quickly was losing interest. I didn't care for the new characters that were introduced, I just wanted to spend all of my time with Cinder and her particular plotline and her associated side characters. I had little to no interest in Scarlet and what was going on with her. Overall the second book was very meh for me.

My hold on Cress came through remarkably fast after I had finished Scarlet but after the disappointment I didn't even bother to go and pick it up. But now, after it's been a little while, I'm not quite so certain about that decision. I know I wouldn't have liked to continue the series at that point in time, the disapointment was too fresh, but now I want your opinions.

Will Cress make up for my disappointment in Scarlet? Will I enjoy the plotline and the characters again?

Should I stay or should I go?

  1. Oh cool new feature, this is a really fun idea!

Well, I loved Cinder too despite being hesitant to get started in on the series. And I know everyone seemed to adore Scarlet so much more but I found them to be comparable. Cress however is without a doubt, my favorite book of the series! Things REALLY get moving plot-wise, it's exciting and the new characters are all wonderful BUT Cinder gets more time to shine as they spend a lot of time together in groups. I think Cress would make up for your being let down by Scarlet and I'm really curious to see how you'd make out :)

    1. I'm glad you like it! And I'm more than happy to share the feature if you'd like to give it a go yourself [:

More Cinder, excitement, new wonderful characters?! I'm sold. You've hit on all the magical words right there. I'm so glad that the series really bounces back because Cinder was so amazing and I just felt so let down by Scarlet; complete opposite ends of the spectrum for me. Literary whiplash I guess you could say.
