"Should I Stay Or Should I Go?" is a feature on Typing Tiara where I reach out to you, my awesome readers,
to talk about series that I'm just not sure if I want to continue on
with or series in which I have the first book on my TBR and I'm not
longer sure if I even want to start any more. Your mission, should you chose to accept it, is to tell me whether I should stay with the series or if I should go and leave it far behind. Sound good? Awesome, let's do this!
Up today we have a duology which I'm sure you've all heard about...

I read If I Stay by Gayle Forman ages ago for a young adult course that I took, I think my sophomore year of college, so many moons ago. I liked the book. I thought it was interesting and if I remember correctly, again many moons ago, I read it in a single sitting the same afternoon that I bought it. [I distinctly remember getting it at Sam's Club...though that's honestly neither here nor there.]
Fast forward a bit and I knew a sequel was out, it was on my radar, automatically added to my wishlist and honestly I don't remember ever considering actually buying it. It was just there. I had read the first one so I added the second...we all do this, right? I'm not alone?
Anyway. Then the movie came out. I saw the trailers. Honestly, I think I teared up far more during the trailer than I did actually reading the book but I could be wrong on that...I may have mentioned that the reading of this book took place many moons ago? Either way, suddenly I was interested again. I mean, come on, those trailers packed an emotional punch. And my Mom, who also saw the emotional punch that was the trailer for that movie, was interested now. [I actually bought her If I Stay for Christmas, just a little side note.] And then I found the sequel, Where She Went, at a used bookstore where I was able to get it [in hardcover none the less!] for about a quarter. And it's sat on my shelf ever since.
I remember bits and pieces of the first book, but like I said I felt that the trailer for the movie [which I haven't seen yet] hit me harder in the feels. So I can't decide...should I stay or should I go?
[And, sidenote, if you vote for me staying with the duology, should I reread If I Stay first or can I just jump right in?]
If you haven't started the series yet and asked me, I would have said that there's a 50/50 chance. But since you liked the first one, I suggest that you stay. :)

Seems like sound logic to me, Kim. I'm starting in on it right now, it's a shorter read than I thought so it should be no harm, no foul either way. [:
