Top Ten Tuesday: Winter 2014 TBR

Top Ten Tuesday is a meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish where a new topic is given each week by the host blog and participants write up a corresponding list of ten things. Simple, fun, and great for those obsessed with lists. This week's topic is: Top Ten Books On My Winter TBR (sorry this is like a month early from when Winter OFFICIALLY starts but December is too busy with end of year stuff).

Assassin's Quest (Farseer Trilogy, #3)

(1) Assassin's Quest by Robin Hobb - I had already started this one awhile back but because of the workload that came with my school's master's program I had to set it aside but it's definitely going to be one of the first books that I pick up when I'm on my winter break.

The Darkest Minds (The Darkest Minds, #1)

 (2) The Darkest Minds by Alexandra Bracken - I picked this up when it was advertised as a Kindle freebie because everyone on booktube and in the blogosphere has raved about it (and who honestly can resist a Kindle FREEBIE?) so I can't wait to discover my own thoughts on it.

 Death of the Mad Hatter

(3) Death of the Mad Hatter by Sarah J. Pepper - I desperately need a Wonderland fix and I feel I can finally due this book justice because BREAK.

The Fellowship of the Ring (The Lord of the Rings, #1)
(4) The Fellowship of the Ring by J.R.R. Tolkien - I keep saying I'm going to read this one and I really want to...I even have the audiobook already! I feel like such a fraud as a fan of fantasy having not read the one that started it all and I think the entire trilogy would be the perfect thing to devour curled up in front of the fire.

Dune (Dune Chronicles, #1)

(5) Dune by Frank Herbert - I tried to read this one once before and didn't make it very far and awhile back I ordered the audiobook, the one with multiple voice actors, listened to the first chapter and was hooked. Definitely going to devote some attention to this one once I have the time!

The Name of the Wind (The Kingkiller Chronicle #1)

(6) The Name of the Wind by Patrick Rothfuss - Noticing a trend here? I didn't get to HALF the books I wanted to read over this fall and this one is definitely a must read. Everyone and their mother has been raving over the brilliance of Rothfuss' work so I have to jump on the band wagon. I HAVE TO.

Little Men (Little Women #2)Jo's Boys (Little Women #3)

(7) Little Men and  Jo's Boys by Louisa May Alcott - Rereading Little Women has become a Christmas tradition for me but I've never read the last two books in the trilogy and I think this is the perfect year to remedy that!

Leviathan Wakes (Expanse #1)

(8) Leviathan Wakes by James S. A. Corey - Gorgeous cover and after having read the first few pages already it was all I could do to just stop right there. The perfect chunky book to snuggle up with during the late nights of winter.

The Snow Child

(9) The Snow Child By Eowyn Ivey - This one's bit sitting on my shelves for a bit but that cover seems to call for a Winter reading, so I'll at least be giving it a go.

Howards End

(10)  Howard's End  by E.M. Forster - I recently saw a booktuber, I can't remember who (maybe effusionsofwit?) reread this and fall in love with it all over again so now I'm wanting to experience it myself. And who doesn't love some chunkier books, be they classics or fantasy/scifi in the winter months?

  1. I LOVED The Darkest Minds. It's one of those books where I remember where I was when I read it. A friend of mine whose read the second one said it fell flat for her, which was unfortunate. I haven't gotten to it yet. Great list, mate. Happy reading.

    1. That is crazy high praise. I hope that I'm the same way when I finally get around to reading it! [:
