WWW Wednesday [10]

WWW Wednesdays is hosted by Should Be Reading

What did you recently finish reading?

Magisterium by Jeff Hirsch - One star...ultimately I just wasn't a fan of this one.
Splintered by A.G. Howard - Five stars! I absolutely adored this retelling! :D
Grimm Fairy Tales Vol. 1 by Ralph Tedesco - Five stars!I loved the artwork in this volume and the retellings were spot-on, I just wish some of them had been a bit longer. [Warning, this one's definitely not YA!]
All You Never Wanted by Adele Griffin - Three stars! Pretty heavy read for such a little book.
Jersey Angel by Beth Ann Bauman - Three stars! I liked this one but I definitely wouldn't recommend it to those on the younger side of YA. Definitely mature. Really mature.

What are you currently reading?

A Clash of Kings by George R. R. Martin- I've been trying to get review books read so I have posts on TT so this one has been temporarily cast aside. Le sigh. I miss it.
To The Lighthouse by Virginia Woolf - Surprising myself by enjoying this one though it will definitely require a few rereads down the line because I'm sure I'm missing out on some things.

What do you think you'll be reading next?
Probably something off the review pile since I'm still behind and took a two book break from it.

  1. Wow, lots of great books! All of the George RR Martin books are so long. I read them all before i started book blogging... I can't imagine trying to fit them into my schedule now. It's worth it, though, because it's a great story.
Jersey Angel looks interesting. *off to goodreads to check it out some more*
Thanks for stopping by my WWW. I agree, there are so many awesome books becoming movies right now. =)

    1. I second that. I love them but they're horrible for my blog since they aren't the type of book I review on here and they are so epically long. I have to set them down for ages in order to catch up on reviews.... :/

      Thanks for returning the favor!

  2. You've read quite a bit too! xD

Those heavy contemporaries are just not my thing. I just get so mad at the MCs doing stupid stuff it's like a car accident.

    1. I cheated though! LOL. I mean, one was a collection of comics and the majority of the books were only like two hundred or so pages a piece. xD

I think I'm rebelling against the huge page counts in the Game of Thrones books. LOL!

I can handle them sometimes...but others...they drive me bonkers. Especially when you wait until the end to figure out what drove them to where they are in the first place and then its like, say what? That? That was all? Really? -.-

  5. I know they say not to judge a book by its cover, but the artwork on Splintered just jumped out at me!

I'm a huge fairy tale fan. I love retellings and various versions, so Splintered and Grimm Fairy Tales Vol. 1 are definitely going on my list!

    1. It jumped out to me too when I saw it on someone elses' blog, I was totally click happy trying to get to Netgalley to request it after that...then even more so when I found out it was an Alice in Wonderland retelling! :D

      Hope you enjoy them both!

  6. Great books. I have Splintered on my wishlist and really want to grab it, I have heard such great things about it. Magisterium looked ok, but I have heard mixed things about it now. I haven't started the Game of Thrones series, want to, but never found the right time. Thanks for stopping by and happy reading.

    1. I would definitely recommend picking Splintered up over Magisterium. Loved one, totally "eh"ed the other. As for Game of Thrones, the books are amazing but time consuming...I'm finding you have to be crazy dedicated to get through them.

      Happy reading!

  7. I really want to read Splintered! I'm doing the debut author challenge this year but I can't afford any more books right now but this is high on my list to check out when I can :D and I loved Clash of Kings. I think the earlier books in that series are better. I sort of lost faith in the last couple and still have one more to read but I agree with your post above about needing the time! Great post. Thanks for stopping by my blog! :)

    1. I had wanted to do the debut author challenge but I figured it would have involved buying a lot of books to try and keep up. Splintered was awesome though. I hope you get to read it soon. :]

I'm hoping to get back into A Clash of Kings soon...just need to catch up on writing reviews and the like.

      Thanks for stopping by!

  10. Yey, I've been tempted to try Splintered, though it sounds a little crazy too, with all the mind-bending nature of Alice retellings ;-) Clash of Kings is going back on my TBR pile since a copy is on it's way to me soon :D Thanks for stopping by my blog this week!
