WWW Wednesday [7]

WWW Wednesdays is hosted by Should Be Reading

What did you recently finish reading?
Absolutely nothing. It was a super slow week for me and I just really wasn't in the mood to read. I'm hoping to finish at least a couple books before next WWW Wednesday though. Fingers crossed!

What are you currently reading?

Innocent Erendira and Other Stories by Gabriel Garcia Marquez - No further on this one, just really haven't been in the right frame of mind.
Ceremony by Leslie Marmon Silko - Again, just not in the right mood.
A Clash of Kings by George R. R. Martin - About two hundred pages in...trying really hard to make these last since there is no telling when the sixth one will be out.

What do you think you'll be reading next?

And All the Stars by Andrea K. Host
Magisterium by Jeff Hirsch

  2. I feel like such a slouch because I've intended to read Marquez--anything by him--for years, and never have.

    1. This is only my second go. I tried One Hundred Years of Solitude which everyone raved about and it just wasn't for me, I finished it but only just better. I'm liking this collection of short stories and novellas a lot better. :]

  4. Big fan of all your current reads! Marquez is probably one of my top 2-3 favorite authors of all-time. Ceremony is timeless and the Song of Fire & Ice series is wonderful and engrossing. I too hope Martin finishes the next new book soon. He's said he owes us another even after that, but Book 5 took SO long to come out. I worry, he's not getting any younger!

    1. Yay! I'm liking Marquez a lot more this time around. I tried him a few years ago, One Hundred Years of Solitude, and I just felt lost. Ceremony is pretty amazing though. AND LOVE LOVE LOVE the Song of Ice and Fire series. I think it was the perfect choice for my first epic fantasy series because now I want to devour/try more! :D

    1. Yay! And you'll come back and tell me how much you love them? Or like? I'll accept either. ;]

      LOL. Happy reading!

  6. lol! That's true, I don't know why I was in such a rush to finish the Song of Ice and Fire series this year (I'm 16 pages into book 5... or at least I was a couple of months ago when I last looked at it.) BUT book two is totally worth getting through just to get to book three which. is. AWESOME!

    1. OH WOW. You're really far ahead of me. xD

I'm hoping to balance it all out with the show...maybe. I hate running out of book and George R. R. Martin seems to make it really easy to do just that.

  7. I read 100 years of solitude for a bookclub and I think that is the reason I got through it, I had to, or felt I did. It was really tough because each generation had the same darn name - super confusing! But ultimately I liked it. I will have to try the stories and I keep thinking about Love in the time of Cholera...we will see. Great books! Good luck finishing :)

    1. YES. That confused the heck out of me. I kept flipping around in the book trying to find where I got lost. And I was reading it on my own. I think it would have been easier to read with a bookclub for the support group.

I've been thinking about Love in the Time of Cholera too. It seems to pop up everywhere.

  8. Good idea trying to make the Song of Ice and Fire series last... I devoured them all too quickly. The upside of reading them quickly is that I caught up to the tv show seasons and I know what to expect for that.
I haven't read any of the other books you listed. I loved Marquez's Love in the Time of Cholera, but I was not a fan of 100 Years of Solitude, so I don't know if I'd love or hate his other works!

    1. That is exactly what I was afraid of! So I'm trying to read just enough to catch up with the show [my cousin is watching so we're comparing].

I think I'll have to give that one a try because I just could not get into One Hundred Years of Solitude.

    1. We're doing things backwards from one another then. I'm wanting to read the books then check out the show. I figured that might drag the books out so I wouldn't be without too long. :]

  10. I still really need to read All the Stars! It's been sitting on the Kindle forever, Netgalley must hate me, haha! I look forward to seeing what you think :D Thanks for stopping by my blog this week!

    1. You and me both! And Netgalley...I think I'm going to need to go into the reviewer protection program and hide out for awhile...I'm so behind on review books!

Love your blog! Thank YOU for stopping by mine! :D

  11. Oh, I LOVE the Game of Thrones books!! I wanted to make them last too, for the same reason, but then I couldn't stop reading and was done way too soon.
