Top Ten Tuesday is a meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish
where a new topic is given each week by the host blog and participants
write up a corresponding list of ten things. Simple, fun, and great for
those obsessed with lists. This week's topic is: Top Ten Books To Get In The Halloween Spirit.
This is a super hard one for me since I don't read very many "scary" books.
This is a super hard one for me since I don't read very many "scary" books.
(1) Possess by Gretchen McNeil - I was so excited when I won a copy of this book way back when then super nervous to start it because it was about demon possession and I was positive it would scare the crap out of me. But Gretchen McNeil seemed like such an awesome person/author [Note: I'm going by her twitterfeed as I haven't gotten to meet her awesomeness yet. YET.] And surprise surprise, I ended up loving it. One of my favorites to recommend too.
(2) The Body Finder by Kimberly Derting - Actually the whole series. Because they are awesome and creepy and just YES. I can't believe I almost missed out on this series. Thankfully Alli @ Magnet 4 Book Reviews made me grab them from the library and I promptly devoured them. Can't wait for the fourth one to come out!
(3) The Forest of Hands and Teeth by Carrie Ryan - Zombies! I never thought I would see the day when I would get so excited about these crazy things. But my boyfriend was a huge zombie person so of course I wanted to share in his interest. So I started watching as many zombie movies and reading all the books that I could and surprised myself by loving them! The Forest of Hands and Teeth was my first ever zombie read and definitely one of my favorites to date.
(4) The Walking Dead by Robert Kirkman - These books are the holy grail in my household. Everyone has read them. Again, a favorite series of my boyfriend [and my cousin / best friend] and they got passed along to me, even my Mom has read them...actually, I think she's further along in the series than I am! Anyway. Totally gruesome and engaging, though definitely not YA.
(5) Zombies Vs Unicorns by Various Authors - [Can you guys tell I'm running out of Halloween-y, creeptastic steam here?] I absolutely loved this anthology. Its actually the one that got me hooked on anthologies in the first place.
(6) Enthralled: Paranormal Diversions by Various Authors - So many great stories and a few of them kind of on the creepy side of things if I remember right. What I do remember for sure is adoring this collection of paranormal stories.
(7) Two and Twenty Dark Tales by Various Authors - I haven't read this one as of the time that I'm writing this list but it is on my TBR for October because it just sounds like the perfect read to get me pumped for Halloween!
(8) Shade by Jeri Smith-Ready - Ghosts are totally Halloween-y! And I absolutely love the ghost/shade that you'll find in this read. Totally spooktastic!
(9) Beautiful Creatures by Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl -
"There were no surprises in Gatlin County.
We were pretty much the epicenter of the middle of nowhere.
At least, that's what I thought.
Turns out, I couldn't have been more wrong.
There was a curse.
There was a girl.
And in the end, there was a grave."
Need I say more? Besides, there is a BC movie coming out soon so you'll be ahead of the game! :]
(10) Dead Witch Walking by Kim Harrison - Definitely not YA but I have to give a shout-out to my favorite adult series and its filled with demons, ghosts, vampires and all kinds of other things that go dark in the night...and just totally awesome!

Good choices!!
ReplyDeleteANNNNNNNNNNNND, I'm hapyp to find another KIM HARRISON fan! We are so few and far between, it seems! Definitely the best UF out there, in my awesome opinion. :Þ
Thank you!
DeleteI second that! I've hardly found anyone who is a huge Hollows fan. So I'm continually pushing her books on my friends and family. Hounding my Mom lately to read the first one because I need more people to gush with. LOL.
I am planning on reading Possess for Halloween this year. I'm glad you liked it!

I hope you enjoy it! :]

ReplyDeleteLol. I've felt that same way about almost every list I've seen. xD
