Top Ten Books I'm Excited To Read in 2012

Top Ten Tuesday is a Meme created and hosted by The Broke and The Bookish.

(1) Daughter of Smoke and Bone 2 by Laini Taylor - It doesn't even have a title yet, much less a cover or a synopsis but I've been desperate to read this one since I finished Daughter of Smoke and Bone, my absolute favorite book of 2011. According to Goodreads the proposed release date is September of 2012. I really really really hope I'm considered for an ARC of this one, if they release them, because I am just so crazy excited to read this book.

(2) Bitterblue by Kristin Cashore - I loved Graceling and was surprised to find that I loved Fire even more, should the pattern persist that means Bitterblue will be my favorite in the series! So of course I'm looking forward to getting to read it. Kristin Cashore is just an amazingly talented writer of fantasy and I can't wait to see what she has in store for her readers.

(3) Clockwork Princess by Cassandra Clare - OMGWTHBBQ! Clockwork Angel was amazing, Clockwork Prince blew it out of the water, Clockwork Princess will be a goddess of a book...I just know it. I have to know what goes on between the brilliance that is the Will/Tessa/Jem love traingle. And the automatons! And and and...I just want this book and can't believe I still have to wait until the end of the year.

(4) Shine by Jeri Smith-Ready - As of the time I'm writing this post I've only read Shade, and fell head over heads in love with the characters and Jeri Smith-Ready's writing style. Shift is on it's way to me now and I know that I'm going to love it just as much if not more. This is why Shine won itself a spot on my automatic pre-orders for the new year (I only let myself have three). It might be helping it out a little that my name is to be included in the acknowledgements! #TeamKilt

(5) Spellbound by Rachel Hawkins - I don't think any series has surprised me more than this one. I was reluctant to pick up Hex Hall, but darling Alli finally convinced me and I couldn't be more happy that she did. It was a great book and it's sequel, Demonglass was even better. I have no idea what is in store for me with Spellbound but I can't wait to find out.

(6) Insurgent by Veronica Roth - Divergent was amazing. Absolutely, positively amazing. Need I say more? Of course I want more Tris and Four! Hand over Insurgent! :D

(7) Uglies: Shay's Story by Scott Westerfeld - The Uglies Quartet is one of my absolute favorite series EVER. I devoured these books as soon as I got a hold of them [and now that I have a complete set again I plan on doing it all over again!]. Needless to say, I'm really looking forward to seeing what Shay has to say about everything.

(8) City of Lost Souls by Cassandra Clare - Though TID is now officially my favorite Clare series, I still love the one that started it all and I'm looking forward to seeing what CoLS holds for Clary, Jace and the rest of the gang.

(9) Enchanted by Alethea Kontis -  I cannot wait to read this book. A re-telling of the story of the princess and the frog is absolutely perfect for me.

(10) Gotham City Sirens Volume 4: Divisions - Not a YA I know but I'm so in love with this comic series I just HAD to include it on my top ten post. I'm a HUGE Harley Quinn fangirl and I just have to know what happens to my favorite Sirens in this, the final volume of their series.

  3. I can't wait for Insurgent, I loved Divergent.
I need to read Rachel Hawkins series, so many people love those books. Daughter of Smoke and Bones is another one I need to read.

I only read Uglies, I just couldn't pick up the rest of the books because of the main character. I really dislike superficial characters and I know that it is how she was raised I just couldn't get past it. I really liked the concept and story of the book. I have been wanting to read the rest of the series, but I just haven't been able too. I'm hoping that one day I will be able to read the rest of the series and see what happens.

  4. Divergent was an amazing read, I really hope Insurgent is just as great. Rachel Hawkins is a great author so I definitely recommend her but Daughter of Smoke and Bone was just...I don't have words. Definitely a favorite of mine.

I'm sorry to hear that. I really liked Tally, I thought she fit her situation well and helped to develop the ideas that Scott Westerfeld was trying to communicate to his readers. I hope you like the sequels better if/when you pick them up.

  10. It had to be on my list. I felt a little silly though since there wasn't a title or anything but I just knew it belonged. :]
