Top Ten Tuesday: New to Fantasy

Top Ten Tuesday is a meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish where a new topic is given each week by the host blog and participants write up a corresponding list of ten things. Simple, fun, and great for those obsessed with lists. This week's topic is: Top Ten Books I'd Give To Readers Who Have Never Read Fantasy.

I tried to do a mixture of middle grade, young adult, and adult fantasy so it's perfect for ANYONE who has never read fantasy. Tried. xD

Mistborn: The Final Empire (Mistborn, #1)Queen's Own (Valdemar: Arrows of the Queen #1-3)The Innocent Mage (Kingmaker, Kingbreaker, #1)Poison Study (Study, #1)Brightly WovenThe Demon King (Seven Realms, #1)Alanna: The First Adventure (Song of the Lioness #1)The Goose Girl (The Books of Bayern, #1)Crown Duel (Crown & Court #1-2)A Game of Thrones (A Song of Ice and Fire, #1)

 (1) Mistborn by Brandon Sanderson
(2) Queen's Own by Mercedes Lackey
(3) The Innocent Mage by Karen Miller
(4) Poison Study by Maria V. Snyder
(5) Brightly Woven by Alexandra Bracken
(6) The Demon King by Cinda Williams Chima
(7) Alanna: The First Adventure by Tamora Pierce [Though just about any of her novels would be an excellent starting point, she was my introduction to fantasy.]
(8) The Goose Girl by Shannon Hale [The entire Books of Bayern series is a great introduction to fantasy for younger readers, though I didn't read it until late in life...still loved it.]
(9) Crown Duel by Sherwood Smith [One of my favorites and a little more on the intrigue side for those that love that sort of thing...like me.]
(10) A Game of Thrones by George R. R. Martin [I'll admit it's probably the most challenging on the list but it's definitely rewarding.]
