Review: The Goddess Inheritance [Book 3]

Goodreads Summary: Love or life.
Henry or their child.
The end of her family or the end of the world.
Kate must choose.

During nine months of captivity, Kate Winters has survived a jealous goddess, a vengeful Titan and a pregnancy she never asked for. Now the Queen of the Gods wants her unborn child, and Kate can't stop her--until Cronus offers a deal.

In exchange for her loyalty and devotion, the King of the Titans will spare humanity and let Kate keep her child. Yet even if Kate agrees, he'll destroy Henry, her mother and the rest of the council. And if she refuses, Cronus will tear the world apart until every last god and mortal is dead.

With the fate of everyone she loves resting on her shoulders, Kate must do the impossible: find a way to defeat the most powerful being in existence, even if it costs her everything.

Even if it costs her eternity.
I am so glad I had this on hand after I finished the second volume of the trilogy. These books have been seriously impossible to put down for more than a few minutes really. I just had to keep reading to find out how everything was going to end. AND WOW. Just wow. [:

I'm still a huge fan of the cast of characters...to the point where they made me want to read MORE myths to learn more about the dynamics between them and see how much of that was drawn from "proper" mythology versus imagination and how much can be inferred and so far. The "family" really just came alive for me...which leads me to...

One of the best aspects of the trilogy as a whole, an aspect that you see particularly well in this book, is how well the gods and goddesses are represented. They aren't overly humanized. They are ancient beings, "people" who have been around for who knows how many eons and have been dehumanized because of it. They don't think the same way that a mortal would or necessarily feel; their feelings run deeper than a mortals and more shallow, if that makes any sense.

Though it was a satisfying conclusion for me in regards to Kate and her immediate family and closed the trilogy well, I feel as if The Goddess Inheritance left a great deal of wiggle room for a possible spin-off series or two or three which thrills me to no end because I would LOVE to get to spend more time with the entire cast of characters. Aimee Carter has created a deep well to draw from in terms of characters and probable plot lines in this volume and after having loved this trilogy as I did you can bet that I'll be first in line to get any other books that she writes in continuation of the world created within and pretty much anything else she might pen.

5/5

  1. Did you read The Goddess Legacy? It goes into a lot of the characters' pasts
