Saturday Short: The Angel Experiment by James Patterson

Goodreads Summary: "Get ready for the maximum thrill ride from #1 New York Times bestselling author James Patterson.

After the mutant Erasers abduct the youngest member of their group, the "bird kids", who are the result of genetic experimentation, take off in pursuit and find themselves struggling to understand their own origins and purpose.

In the interest of full disclosure I'll admit that I had really low expectations for this one. However I found myself caught up in the story early on. Non-stop action, interesting characters, and crazy circumstances. Pretty hard to resist. However I did have one slight issue with the book; despite being out of the anticipated age group for YA I never really feel as if I'm reading something for someone younger than me, this time I did. I actually felt like I was a bit too old for The Angel Experiment and that reading it was kind of like the guilty pleasure I sometimes indulge in of reading books from when I was a kid. It wasn't the fact that the narrator was a fourteen year old, the writing itself just felt young. Enjoyable, but young. Overall I'm glad that I gave it a chance, it was a fun read if nothing else and I'll probably be checking out the sequels to discover what happens next. :]
