Let's talk about the end of summer.
Come out from under the rock, yes, I can see you there. You're not fooling anyone.
Anyway, summer is coming to an end and schools are opening back up. We're all either frantically rushing out to buy our own school supplies, or supplies for a kid, or maybe just addicted to the supplies without deeming the whole school thing necessary. We're also coming to terms with the fact that once again summer is coming to an end and there is still so much to do.
Oh come on, I know I'm not the only one that set goals for this summer. Admit it!
Mine weren't anything overly exciting, it's not like I planned to scale a mountain or something just get some reading and writing done. Specifically I had hoped to plot out my novel for November [National Novel Writing Month for those of you who didn't know] and tackle a few of the classics that are cluttering up my TBR shelves.
I accomplished neither.
I've read one hundred and sixty-four books so far this year and only one of them was a classic, Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde by Robert Louis Stevenson [which I had to read for my English Literature class]. Unless you want to count my re-read of Little Women by Louisa May Alcott...which I don't.
I wrote absolutely nothing aside from tweets, facebook updates, and blog posts.
I admit it, my summer was a dismal failure in light of my goals. But, but, I did start this blog and I've written over twenty book reviews and who knows how many other blog posts. And I learned to vlog! And I'm gradually learning more about html coding. Progress has been made! Just not the progress I had planned on.
So, what goals did you set for your summer? Were there certain books you had hoped to read? Did you finish them or is your TBR pile just as big a monster as before the summer began? Or are you a writer that had hoped to spend these sweltering months penning your masterpiece? Maybe even both. Tell us, we promise we won't judge.
I think you've accomplished quite a bit then =] I set a goal to read 30 books in June and I failed dismally. after that, I shied away from goals altogether but I did join the gym!!

Aw, thanks! :D
ReplyDeleteI'm starting to think that goals just aren't the way to go. I do so much better when I'm not focusing on them.
Congrats on joining the gym! :]
Ash you got everything but your goals accomplished which is awesome...i did nothing, not much SAT prep that i shouldve done...but i did read lots and lots, and accomplished shop till i drop on Vacation :) PS : would you like a key chain from india ?
ReplyDeleteLOL. I'm the queen of that. Maybe I should start making my goals things that I don't really want to get done and see how much "important" things I can deal with.
ReplyDeleteEW. SAT prep is never fun. I can't blame you for not doing it. I took one of the prep classes when I was going to have to take the SAT and all I really remember from it was having a super cute instructor from the local university. YUM!
I totally approve the reading lots and lots and the shopping. I'll be doing that on the 26th and I cannot wait. Fun stuff!
And was that a trick question, hun? YES! <3
haha cool , when i come back i'll email you for your address and stuff so i can send it :)
