Tiara Talk: Burn Bright

Let's talk Burn Bright by Marianne de Pierres.

Some of you might recall seeing this novel posted on one of my Wishing on Wednesday posts awhile back, which was re-tweeted by none other than Marianne de Pierres herself! So why am I dedicating an entire post to it now? Because when she re-tweeted my blog post she reminded me of something. Here's her re-tweet:

"Typing Tiara: Wishing on Wednesday (4) http://t.co/3yHcqzP #BurnBright. Tell us you want it. tell us LOUDLY!"

That no one can no what it is you want unless you tell them. People are not mind readers and publishers are busy people who can't know everything that is going on at any given moment. Which means we have to let them into the loop and tell them exactly what it is we want. We have to SPEAK LOUDLY.

And the best way to do this is to raise awareness so that others can share their opinions too. As the old saying goes there is strength in numbers so the more posts, tweets, e-mails that are sent out by individuals the more likely that we'll all get to read Burn Bright. Which is why I'm dedicating another post to it about a month after my initial mention of wanting it.

As of right now Burn Bright by Marianne de Pierres is available only in Australia. I most certainly don't live there. I was born and raised in the USA which means I can't get a copy of this book unless I pay an outrageous amount for it on e-bay or convince someone in Australia to send me a copy. Neither of which are likely as I'm a poor college student who doesn't even know anyone in Australia. In order to make this book available elsewhere the people that want it have to find their individual voices and speak out. Like I said in my previous blog post, you have to take a stand. Tweet about it, blog about it, write letters to the publishers. Get your wants out there. Unless we speak loudly and let them know what we want nothing will change.

I'm most certainly not the first to make a similar post, and lots of other people have done it far more eloquently than me, I just hope I won't be the last because I would love to see this book available everywhere and for everyone.

Want to know more about Burn Bright? Here's the link to it's Goodreads summary to tell you more about the book itself:

Burn Bright

And...

We Want Burn Bright!

And...

Publish Burn Bright Worldwide

And...

The World Needs to Burn Bright

Thank you for listening to my little rant. And if you do blog about how you want Burn Bright in your country, link me to it in the comments and I'll add it to the list above. :]

And, because Tiara Talk is supposed to be a discussion post and not just a place for my rants, tell me about a book that you really wanted to read that you couldn't get for one reason or another.

  1. Just received a copy of this from an Australian crit buddy. As soon as I read it, I vow to review it on Goodreads, and/or my blog.

Hopefully that will help spread the word, and lead more people to ask for a US publication of Burn Bright!
