Wishing on Wednesday (8)

Rules of Attraction by Simone Elkeles
Goodreads Summary: "When Carlos Fuentes returns to America after living in Mexico for a year, he doesn’t want any part of the life his older brother, Alex, has laid out for him at a high school in Colorado . Carlos likes living his life on the edge and wants to carve his own path—just like Alex did. Then he meets Kiara Westford. She doesn’t talk much and is completely intimidated by Carlos’ wild ways. As they get to know one another, Carlos assumes Kiara thinks she’s too good for him, and refuses to admit that she might be getting to him. But he soon realizes that being himself is exactly what Kiara needs right now."

Oh. Em. Gee. Alex was so delish in the first one. I fell in love with that book. Five stars all around! I became an instant fan of Simone Elkeles with the conclusion of Perfect Chemistry and can't wait to spend some more time with the Fuentes brother. And I'll admit I have my fingers crossed that this book gives me some screen time with Alex and Brittany though I am interested in Carlos' story as well. But Alex...oh Alex. *dreamy sigh* Let's just say I desperatly want more of these books.

Uncommon Criminals by Ally Carter
Goodreads Summary: "Katarina Bishop has worn a lot of labels in her short life: Friend. Niece. Daughter. Thief. But for the last two months she’s simply been known as the girl who ran the crew that robbed the greatest museum in the world. That’s why Kat isn’t surprised when she’s asked to steal the infamous Cleopatra Emerald so it can be returned to its rightful owners.

There are only three problems. First, the gem hasn’t been seen in public in thirty years. Second, since the fall of the Egyptian empire and the suicide of Cleopatra, no one who holds the emerald keeps it for long — and in Kat’s world, history almost always repeats itself. But it’s the third problem that makes Kat’s crew the most nervous, and that is . . . the emerald is cursed.

Kat might be in way over her head, but she’s not going down without a fight. After all, she has her best friend — the gorgeous Hale — and the rest of her crew with her as they chase the Cleopatra around the globe, dodging curses and realizing that the same tricks and cons her family has used for centuries are useless this time.

Which means, this time, Katarina Bishop is making up her own rules."

Those of you that follow me on Twitter probably saw my tweet about finishing Heist Society by Ally Carter, the first book in the series. It was so fun! I can't wait to spend another book with Kat so let's hope either a Kindle loan comes through for me soon or by some crazy chance I win this book because I really want to know what comes next for Kat and her thieving friends.

Exile by Rebecca Lim
Goodreads Summary: "An electric combination of angels, mystery and romance, EXILE is the breathtaking sequel to MERCY in a major new paranormal romance series.

Mercy’s search continues ...

Mercy is an angel with a shattered memory, exiled from heaven for a crime she can’t remember committing.

So when she ‘wakes’ inside the body and life of eighteen-year-old Lela Neill, Mercy has only limited recall of her past life. Her strongest memories are of Ryan, the mortal boy who’d begun to fall for her – and she for him.

Mercy soon discovers that circumstances have forced Lela into waitressing at the Green Lantern, a busy city café frequented by suits, cab drivers, strippers, backpackers and the homeless, while caring for her terminally ill mother.

Just as Mercy is adjusting to Lela’s life, her beloved, Luc, reappears in her dreams, and she begins to glimpse her true nature and true feelings for Ryan. What she does not know is that her attempts to contact Ryan may have explosive consequences for everyone around her.

Meanwhile, ‘the Eight’ — the angelic beings responsible for her banishment — remain determined to keep Mercy and Luc apart, forever …"

Mercy was AMAZING, in case you know you didn't read my review earlier this week. I cannot wait to get my hands on the sequel. Of course Mercy ended on a wicked cliff-hanger and now I just have to know what comes next for her...and hopefully Ryan who had won me over by the end of the book. Luc on the other hand, I'm hoping will review his true colors because I am positive that there is something off about him. Either way, before I spoil anything else, I just have to say I am crazy excited about this book...that won't be out until MAY FIFTEENTH OF NEXT YEAR. Torture, pure torture.

I'm wishing for a bunch of sequels to awesome books this week. What are you guys wishing for? Any sequels you are desperatly waiting for? Maybe the first in a series or the rare stand-alone? Let me know! :]

  3. I'm not going to lie, the parts in Rules of Attraction with Alex and Brittany were my favourite, LOL. They are definitely there! Alex is.. *sigh*

I want to read Uncommon Criminals as well! Hopefully I can get to that soon.
